Business service: Building a corporate presence

In a time of global economic uncertainty, there can be great opportunities for those who are willing and able to look beyond their home markets.

  • For European companies, emerging (and established) markets in the Asian region present an enticing vision of continued growth whilst home economies remain flat or in negative territory
  • For  Asian companies, the prospects to get established in Europe and build up their channel network whilst infrastructural costs are low and getting lower is no less attractive

InterOna provides corporate business  services  to both European and Asian companies to help them establish their presence in their respective new markets.

Setting up in Asia
European companies have a growing desire to capitalise on the growth that most Asian countries have at this moment. However, when confronted with the prospect of establishing a regional office in Asia, much research needs to be undertaken, many local issues need to be confronted, and many decisions need to be made about the most appropriate location to serve the company's goals and interests.

InterOna has a wealth of experience in the region and can provide a comprehensive service to  provide the information necessary to make those decisions.

Our network of corporate specialists span most Asian countries and should you have a wish to set up in any specific country (e.g. "I want to establish a garment manufacturing company in a country with knowledge of garment manufacturing and low labour costs"), we can certainly provide you with numerous options.

Generally speaking, unless there is not an overriding specific need to locate in a specific country, our advice is to create a regional presence in one of the more economically developed locations - Singapore or Hong Kong.

In both of these locations, we can provide a full range of excellent  business services  including:

  • initial market assessment studies
  • company incorporation
  • office and communication services

Additionally, we can provide some essential business operational services in the immediate post-incorporation phase  including:

  • business and sales development
  • partner/alliance development
  • staff recruitment

Setting up in Europe
Many things have changed for Asian companies in the last decade. 5-10 years ago  Asian companies responded to the demands of a growing global economy by building up their manufacturing base and delivering finished goods cheaply to a world willing and eager to pay lower prices.

Today, Asian manufacturers have seen their customers dramatically decrease their order volumes in line with shrinking orders at home. Some customers have even disappeared completely - forced into closure due to the harsh business conditions that Western economies are currently experiencing.

However, for the more forward-looking management teams in Asian companies, this is a moment of unequalled opportunity to get a regional presence in Europe while across-the-board costs  remain at all time lows. In addition, many European governments are now offering subsidies and incentives to attract foreign companies to come and establish themselves there.

Through our extensive network in Europe, we can provide advice about setting up your corporate presence in countries both within and outside the  European Union.

Establishing  a European presence outside of the European Union can have its advantages under certain conditions and countries like Switzerland and  Norway have positioned themselves as being countries with many of the advantages of the European single market whilst not being restricted by EU legislation.

On the other hand, setting up in a country already a EU member gives immediate and direct access to a huge market of over 500 million consumers. Even though there are now 27 countries within the EU, there are only a few which can fulfil most of the criteria demanded by foreign companies seeking a regional office in Europe, like:

  • Strategically located in the heart of Europe
  • Well educated, multilingual and flexible workforce
  • English as the primary or first secondary language
  • High quality communications and transport infrastructure
  • Favourable fiscal climate
  • A high standard of living and good quality of life

And there is only one that can fulfil all the above criteria: The Netherlands.

From its European base in Eindhoven, InterOna is able to provide a full range of excellent  business services  including:

  • initial market assessment studies
  • company incorporation
  • office and communication services located in Amsterdam or Eindhoven

Additionally, we can provide some essential business operational services in the immediate post-incorporation phase  including:

  • business and sales development
  • partner/alliance development
  • staff recruitment
  • foreign staff integration services
